1. How does The 711rocks LinkBid Directory work?

The 711rocks LinkBid Directory lists links alphabetically in order of highest bid. Bids can be purchased for a link at any time, by anybody, and all bids are counted toward a link's total bid. The top 10 bidding links are displayed prominently on the home page, and if the administrator has chosen to enable the Link Leader, the highest bidding link will be displayed on every page.

2. How do I add my link?

Adding your web link is easy. Just click Add link and place a bid of at least $1 to start the submission process, we use PayPal to process your bid. You will get a notification email from us to confirm that your payment has been gratefully received. All link bids have to be approved to be included in the directory, after approval, your payment is accepted and you will get a further email notification to confirm that your link and payment have been gratefully accepted and your link will then show in the directory automatically along with your payment contribution.

You also get an option to have extra links in your linkbid entry. These are called "Deep Links" and they are displayed in the linkbid detailed view. There is a minimum charge for deep links which will be displayed if you click on any deep link box in the "Add Link" page.

Your link will show in the 711rocks linkbid directory instantly if accepted.

3. I added a link, now how do I bid on it?

If you added your link but did not place a bid at the time to submitted your link, you will get a notification email sent to the email address used in the submission. Included in the email will be instructions on placing your first bid along with a url link directly to your LinkBid entry. If you don't place a bid within a reasonable amount of time your link submission will be automatically deleted.

4. I placed a bid, but it does not appear in the directory!

The 711rocks LinkBid Directory is set to manually accept PayPal payments. This means that we have to approve your LinkBid submission before it is included in the directory (this is the human aspect of the directory). If we approve your bid we accept the payment in PayPal and your submission is activated instantly. If we consider your submission to be inappropriate we will not accept payment and your account will not be charged. This is really to control the content of the directory and to prevent malicious link bids getting in, a step to protect existing customers of the directory.

5. How long will my link be listed in the directory?

Once listed, your link is displayed permanently, you keep your like active by placing new bids within a 365 days period. If you do not place a new bid on your link for 365 days the link will naturally expire and will be deleted. This is a simple automated housekeeping facility, but you will receive an automated reminder email 7 days before the link is deleted to give you a chance to keep your link active.

6. Can I put my link in any category?

You should place your web link in a category that closely matches your website theme, topic or genre. If your website is not in an appropriate category it may be moved to a more suitable one, or a new category will created to accommodate you.

7. I can't see a category that fits my website!

If you cannot see the right category for your website use the "zz No category" and we will create a new category for you sometime later.

8. My email address has changed!

If your e-mail address has changed you will no longer receive automated outbidding notices about your web link. You must use the contact facility to get your email address updated. It is important that you use a valid email address with your linkbid entry because of the automated notifications emails facility.

9. Optimization of LinkBid entries

When you submit a linkbid entry we will look at the content and maybe optimize it to better able the search engines to classify and index your link effectively. Should you be unhappy with the optimization we can always revert the text back to its original content. We have set the content entry to the maximum 999 characters, so take advantage of this.
